If the developer wasn't turning would machine still give a good level history reading? The OP said level was good at 6%. This is why I ruled out dev unit not turning.

Thanks for update. Good to know. Looks like it was a common problem and surprised I never saw it. I was servicing quite a few of the 4 & 4e series a few years back and never had that sol go bad.
Does this only happen to higher volume machines? Does it happen with the 8 series or Kon Min fix it?
Was there a bulletin on this? I've scanned the TSB's hundreds of times and don't recall seeing that.👍 1Comment

Unfortunately, in all KM copiers and printers (and not only those) the solenoids might cause problems.
Usually, the (black) insulating material used to prevent noise - melts, causing the metal arm to stick and not return properly as the electro-magnet is not strong enough.
Sometimes you can fix that with a patent, by lowering the distance between the metal arm and the electro-magnet.Comment
