Ussualy you need to use special altboot files in this situation. Can you show the file and size of the file you did used for reload software?Comment

Hello all and thanks for the info.
I normally work on mostly Ricoh and Konica but trying to help a customer.
They got a used machine, Altalink C8045. I hit the CLEAR CUSTOMER DATA function in the menu to get rid of old data. It failed the software reload and now I get your "unable to decrypt " message.
I have DL the files and instructions, thank you
Question - this does not look like a normal SD card. Is there some special adapter or how do I get the downloaded file onto the card?
Thanks for any help.Comment

It tried to load software after imaging the hard drive, but once again came up with "failed to install software" message after a while.
I did use the firmware file with ALTBOOT in the name that you provided.
Trying again, if it fails I will try imaging the SD card and give it another shot.

Disregard, I thought you were talking about the white chip but I'm here and now the regular SD under the fax card.

What version of software was previously on the printer?Comment

It had version 103.002.024.18600 before the error.
It gets past the error and tries to load the software after I re-image the hard drive. But after a while it shows a "software installation error" on the screen and I have to reboot. then goes back to the "unable to decrypt .dlm..." error on next bootup with the special altboot folder using FORCED_UPGRADE and DISABLE_DATA_BACKUP files and AltaLink_C8045_55_ALTBOOT_system-sw10300201114100 firmware
I have just ordered a new hard drive and 4GB SD card and will go back to try again after they arrive.
Any advice before I go back?
ThanksComment
