        Re: Are you a technician?

In one of my graduate courses I was asked to tell a little about myself to the class (a non-technical course).
After saying some basic stuff, I closed with: "And, I fix things"

Some of the ways I fix stuff is not exactly technical--I think calling me a "fixer" might be more appropriate....

Was a technician but now moved to IT help desk. Look after a fleet of copiers now but make the call for techs to visit. Makes quite a change

I'm still learning. I try to help the best i can, hope I have. Really I'm tired of this stuff. I wanted to be something else when I grew up. What the heck happened? Now what do I do? What a life, I hang out on copier forums. I think I need to get a life.

                          Re: Are you a technician?

I worked for Xerox for 34 years and retired. Went back as a contractor a few years later until I moved out of state.

Now I work for a Sales/ Service Agent. About the best gig I ever had.

Xerox used to be a super company to work for. Now I am glad to be out of it and on the down hill slide but I wouldn't change a thing.
I worked with the best people in the world and we were proud of what we did. After all we did it better than anyone else and got paid very well for what we had to do. Great benefits, profit sharing and a new car every couple years with a gas card.

Now with the XSAT and GPS tracking nobody I know that is still there is real happy.

But it is still the greatest job in the world.

Yes I am an electrical technician; I take projects related to my field and doing those works with my team. That was a good way to learn about building construction too.
