hello im posting this for this ongoing problem I have had several machines that have depleted cyan dv on several machines thru the years so i found less expensive solution take your old cyan dv units empty all the dv out in plastic bag. Then go to a problem machine that has a cyan dv code or low cyan CQ OR not correct TRC level vaccum out toner white caps and add 3oz of cyan dev in dev unit turn drive gear correct way to form brush then add 1oz of cyan dv in unit run gradiation.
I have tried on several machines in yellow problem, black issues and most important cyan problems i get about 30k to 50k more before comes back i saved alot of money in cyan dv units purchased hope this helps

I've had a few machines lose Cyan (and Black) developer units in this fashion...never was a fix for it, although the idea was that the units were losing bias/voltage and had to do with removing the HVT assembly and find the offending contact point and fix it... never tried it myself; was always a better idea to replace the whole MACHINE than to risk $600 Developer units, only to find out it didn't work anyway...

You can actually use the waste toner to top up the depleted dev units.

Since this is where the dev ends up simply tip out a pile of the the waste box onto a large sheet of paper & top up the dev unit, stopping to rotate the unit then top up again until you have good coating of dev on the roller, it takes about a small coffee cup full.

The dev coating will look brown ish but when you fit the unit back in the machine run full bleed gradation patterns this will pull out the waste toner replacing it with cyan toner & leave the developer behind.

This is not ideal but was a church who had some urgent printing to do, it took about 50 duplex gradation prints to return to normal.

See before, during & after example below.

Well THAT'S just a pain in the butt! But I never thought to try it because of the mix of other colors. But in hindsight it might have actually worked...

Been doing this for years since the C552/C452 used to have this issue & I have been topping up with waste since then.

You can get a C-2552 error high cyan density however all you do is open/close the door a few times & the level drops to normal around 6.5%

This is a "bush fix" but does the job.

                C224e/C284e/C364e/C454e/C545e cyan dev unit problems

                Hello
I have a problem with a bizhub c364 copier. It worked in optimal parameters for about 1 year and suddenly I found that a considerable amount of developer cyan is missing. The development module costs a lot and that is why I ask you what can be done in this situation? you can fill this loss with another developer model (c253 I wonder) or any other solution. Thank you

I've never tried using 3 series dev but if your C364 cyan developer if useless anyway you have nothing to loose.

Copylite does sell the developer in bags for the C454e series.

Thought I'd share this info that was kindly passed on by another tech,

We now fit new, genuine black dev units in all positions on 4 series machines, just remove the lower wiring harness cover from your old colour dev unit (3 screws) and swap the cover and harness onto the new black dev unit (keep the new chip in place to reset the counter).

You'll need about 30-40 cyan sky shots to pull the cyan toner into the new unit, takes 10 minutes start to finish and you've got a brand new genuine Developer unit for about 10% the cost of ordering a colour one.

Works a treat for us, usually do this along side a new Cyan drum (also a converted genuine black unit) and the problem goes away.

                      Hope this helps someone.

Thanks, I think that's better than refreshing old color dev units with non OEM developer. Even no chip is needed, that's cool!!!

Does this work for Cxx8 series, too?

So you leave the black dev in the new dev unit, then run 30-40 sky shots?

All 4 units have black developer, the color is coming from toner

Haven't had cause to replace any colour 8 series tanks yet so couldn't say for sure. Will certainly be trying it though.

Yep, as tsbservice commented, the dev is all the same, it's only the toner colour that differs so doesn't take long to deplete all the black toner from a tank with sky shots and machine replaces it with colour.
