Re: The random thought thread
We have approx 40 techs in our region, 90% have 20+ years with the same company, 75% of those are between 45-55. I have not seen a new face in at least 10 years. many of us are going out on long term absence for back issues, knee issues etc, but all but 1 have made it back to work. In about 10 years +/-, there is going to be a massive percentage of us retiring (forced by health or just lucky). All that experience and knowledge will be gone with no real plans to replace it. I know the industry is moving towards a more solution based footprint, but how can the company survive if there is no one to actually go out and troubleshoot and replace items more complex than a feed tire. "Hey my C1085 has some CQ issues...when can I expect the replacement machine"??? Or OK Mr. customer, this is phone support, we are going to need to replace the main board and update firmware on your machine, do you have a Phillips handy"? Emujo
