[Misc] Issues with the latest S7 Firmware

hello all,
as some of you may be aware konica has issued a new firmware version, S7.
along with a lot of fixes and additions this version also adds some mandatory changes to comply with EU regulations. it requires a new admin password to be set at machine setup which must have 15 charters and some other security related updates.

we've pushed it out to a few machines in the field and found out pretty quickly that it breaks the driver connection to the copier, no one could print after firmware update.
we had to update the drivers on each pc to the latest v3 universal driver on the develop site, version 3.9.1203.0.
it has also caused issues with the install of papercut hive onto any machine with the new S7 installed. we kept getting a connection error on any machine with S7 installed but it would work perfectly with the R versions of firmware.

just putting it out there as a heads up for anyone that may be thinking of installing it. maybe hold off for a bit...

That is some good information. Could you post the change log PDF that comes with the firmware? We haven't gotten it yet in our region and it would be nice to see what is coming.

Oh good...just like RF in the states.... They told us not to install that one and pulled it from the portal....

Same here but now I vet them all on a machine at the main office. We use Internet ISW for the techs so they always have the latest version we want to deploy vs what Konica hosts.

Thank you for the information, I was told to use this firmware after a customer experiencing issues with scan to email on Ms 365 after enforcing MFA on their email accounts, they can't scan to emails now so after knowing this, I might give it some thought first.

I also don't jump and install new F/W right away. I've leared over the years "if it's not broken, don't fix it"

We use UPD driver and no problem so far. It's quite convenient as one driver fits all sorta thing. It communicates with the copier and picks the correct model. But had loads of trouble with Microsoft IPP driver after S7. Not surprising of course.

Just my 2 cents on this.

I have been deploying S7 this last week on a few machines and I have not experienced this issue at all.

No issues with the PSTI password requriements - the admin password that was on the machine persisted and was useable on screen and via web interface after update.

One client is running PCL C220!!! drivers on their server and the C250i is working perfectly. SW 25 is set to 40 for FV 2.3 on this machine.
We do not use marketplace and the machines do not have any LKs installed.

They are probably enforcing OAuth logins. For that, you will have to use this firmware since it adds OAuth to the machine.

Microsoft is going to force that choice on everyone in March (was September but it sounds like they rescheduled).

Okay then I have no choice but update update the firmware to sort out the issue

I only ever use the Universal PCL driver as I've never had a single issue with it but all the others I have
