It didn't want you to agree with me, but rather to check everything again - letter by letter.
But as far as I can see, I most likely won't be able to generate the reset code due to an invalid date in the machine.

I'm still seeing an errors, so it looks like you haven't done what I asked. It's waste of my time.

Better, however as I thought earlier, you've got wrong date set in the machine:
Failed to verify the CE Password Reset Request Code.
The entered CE Password Reset Request Code cannot be used due to the expiration. (MFP date in the code: 2013/01/01)

So I can only guess the reset code, but with no warranty that it will work for your machine.
            Try this one:
            X2MCN-QAZN4-L7969-BT3PE-UKDKJ-WG8YD-CMZQG-EYDDJ

                Hey,

We use 2 bizhubs c284e to teach print server management. Unfortunately, I think one of my student played a bit too much in the settings of one of them and now we have a C-D262 trouble code... and a non-standard CE password. Would it be possible to get a reset code so I can get in and fix the error?

                Serial #: A5C2011005518
                MAC address: 00:20:6B:8B:A1:6E
CE password reset request code: AL7BJ-BC4QD-KVNY4-4HQCL-VCW28-6G8YD-ENBRG-AZDHR

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

                      Thank you.
Your machine has currently no serial number set - I'm sure, there was an empty space on your request screen in place of serial number.
Additionally machine has wrong date set:

Failed to verify the CE Password Reset Request Code.
The entered CE Password Reset Request Code cannot be used due to the expiration. (MFP date in the code: 2007/07/24)

So probably your machine lost all settings, including counters - intentionally or not.
Set current date and time if you can (probably not, because the admin password is also corrupted) - without this I won't be able to help you.

Thank you for trying to help.

I forgot to mention that the battery on the board had gone weak /dead and when we had shut it down for routine mainenance the settings were corrupted. I have tried the NVRAM reset and it gets to the stage of the D390 error. It goes through the procedure of doing the recovery and the message to cycle power is displayed. Once that is done 4 sharkfins / towers come up and the amber light keeps blinking and stays that way.

I have left it like that for 24 hours to check but unfortunately no luck. When disconnected from main power and the reset tool is run again, after the D390 error comes up I can acess the menu (the machine has reverted back to the Japanese menu) where I can enter service mode to enter the password. The default password was not changed (9272 four times) but it looks like the admin password is corrupted as you have surmised.

So if you can enter service mode, you can set new admin password (even the same as default one) as well - [Stop] -> [0] -> [C] then [Administrator Password]

Sorry for not being clear. I mean I can get up to the service mode login screen (where I have to enter the password). If I try to enter 9272 four times I get the message "Your authentication is currently invalid due to unauthorised access". If I enter [Stop] -> [0] -> [C] it brings up the CE Reset Screen but since serial number is not displayed and date is wrong a reset code cannot be generated by you.
