Yes, it's annoying.
Understandable and legal in the case of contracts (during their term), but questionable (illegal without agreement with the customer) in the case of machines owned by the customer.
It is the customer's right to have a choice of service provider for his machine.

This is awkward, I don't quite understand either

Compare serial number from the label on the back side of your machine, with the number on the small label inside the machine (under right door, close to the front).
Post a photo of the label and prepare once again CE reset request code.
Maybe this time...
